GOSPEL FOR EVERYONE

HOW TO SHARE THE GOSPEL

LEAD OTHERS TO CHRIST: a step-by-step guide

Welcome to Gospel For Everyone! Our mission is to equip you with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to share the Gospel with others and lead them to Jesus Christ. Whether you’re new to evangelism or experienced in sharing your faith, this guide will help you bring the life-changing message of salvation to those around you.

1. Prepare Your Heart

Before you lead others to Christ, it’s essential to have a personal, growing relationship with Him. Spend time in prayer, asking God for guidance, wisdom, and a heart of compassion for those you’ll reach. Remember, the Holy Spirit works through you, so trust Him to speak to people’s hearts.

Scripture: "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you." (1 Peter 3:15, NKJV)

2. Know the Gospel Message

Understanding and communicating the core message of the Gospel is key. Here’s a simple way to explain it:

  • God loves us: God created us and loves us unconditionally (John 3:16).

  • Sin separates us: All of us have sinned, and sin separates us from God (Romans 3:23).

  • Jesus saves us: God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and offer eternal life (Romans 5:8).

  • We must respond: Salvation is a free gift, but we must accept it through repentance and faith in Jesus (Romans 10:9).

3. Build Relationships

Evangelism is most effective when it happens within relationships. Whether it's with friends, family, co-workers, or neighbors, take time to build trust and show genuine care. When people see Christ’s love in your life, they’re more likely to be open to hearing the Gospel.

Tip: Listen more than you speak. Allow people to share their thoughts, questions, and struggles before jumping into the message.

4. Share Your Testimony

Your personal story of how Jesus transformed your life can be one of the most powerful tools in evangelism. Be authentic and honest. Your testimony should highlight what your life was like before Christ, how you came to know Him, and how your life has changed since then.

Scripture: "They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony."(Revelation 12:11, NIV)

5. Present the Gospel Clearly

When the time feels right, present the Gospel clearly and simply. Avoid religious jargon or complicated theology. Stick to the basics: God’s love, humanity’s sin, Jesus’ sacrifice, and the need for a personal response.

Tip: Use tools like the Romans Road or the Four Spiritual Laws to explain the Gospel message step by step. (See Below)

6. Invite a Response

Once you’ve shared the Gospel, give the person an opportunity to respond. You can ask questions like:

  • “Does this make sense to you?”

  • “Would you like to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior today?”

If they’re ready, lead them in a simple prayer of repentance and faith. Encourage them that it's not the words of the prayer but the sincerity of their heart that matters.

Sample Prayer: "Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I trust You as my Savior and follow You as my Lord. Thank You for saving me. Amen."

7. Offer Next Steps

After someone accepts Christ, it’s important to guide them in their next steps. Encourage them to:

  • Pray regularly to build their relationship with God.

  • Read the Bible daily to grow in their faith. Suggest starting with the Gospel of John.

  • Join a local church for fellowship, worship, and discipleship.

  • Be baptized as an outward expression of their faith.

Tip: Stay connected and offer continued support. Offer to meet regularly to study the Bible and pray together.

8. Trust God with the Results

Remember, it’s not your job to convert people—that’s the work of the Holy Spirit. Your role is to share the message faithfully, love others genuinely, and trust God to bring the increase.

Scripture: "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase." (1 Corinthians 3:6, NKJV)

    The Roman Road to Salvation

The Roman Road is a simple yet powerful way to share the Gospel using key verses from the Book of Romans. It presents the message of salvation in clear steps, highlighting the need for a Savior and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Here’s how you can walk someone through the Roman Road:

    1. Everyone Needs Salvation

    Romans 3:23 (NIV)
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

This verse explains that no one is perfect. We have all sinned and missed God’s standard of holiness. Sin separates us from God and creates a barrier between us and eternal life with Him.

    2. The Consequence of Sin is Death

    Romans 6:23 (NIV)
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Sin has a price: death, both physical and spiritual. However, God offers a free gift—eternal life through Jesus Christ. This life is not something we can earn; it’s a gift of grace that we must accept.

    3. God’s Love Provides a Way Out

    Romans 5:8 (NIV)
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die in our place. Jesus took on the punishment for our sins so that we could have life. He did this not because we deserved it, but because of His love and grace.

    4. Salvation is Through Faith in Jesus

    Romans 10:9-10 (NIV)
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

Salvation comes through confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in His resurrection. It’s not about being religious or performing good deeds—it’s about putting your trust in Jesus Christ for forgiveness and new life.

    5. Assurance of Salvation

    Romans 10:13 (NIV)
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

God promises that anyone who calls on Him with faith will be saved. This invitation is open to everyone, regardless of background, past mistakes, or how far they feel from God. He is ready to save those who come to Him.

    6. Peace and New Life in Christ

    Romans 5:1 (NIV)
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Once we’ve accepted Christ, we are justified—made right with God. This new relationship brings peace and a new purpose in life, as we now live in the freedom that Christ has given us.

Conclusion: The Gift of Eternal Life

    Romans 8:1 (NIV)
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

In Christ, we are no longer condemned for our sins. We have been set free, and nothing can separate us from the love of God. Eternal life begins the moment we put our faith in Jesus.

    How to Respond:

Invite the person you’re sharing this with to respond by placing their faith in Jesus Christ. They can pray something like this:

"Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I confess You as my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart, and help me live for You. Thank You for saving me. Amen."

Using the Roman Road is a clear and effective way to present the Gospel. It’s based on the truth of Scripture and offers a simple explanation of how anyone can receive the free gift of salvation in Christ.

The Four Spiritual Laws

The Four Spiritual Laws is a simple way to explain the message of salvation and God's plan for individuals. It outlines the core truths about God’s love, sin, Jesus Christ, and the response needed to receive eternal life. Here’s a breakdown of each law:

1. God Loves You and Has a Wonderful Plan for Your Life

John 3:16 (NIV)
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

God's love for humanity is deep and personal. He desires for everyone to experience an abundant life full of purpose and meaning, both now and in eternity. This begins with a personal relationship with Him.

God’s Plan: Eternal life through Jesus Christ and a fulfilling relationship with Him (John 10:10).

2. Humanity Is Sinful and Separated from God

Romans 3:23 (NIV)
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Sin is what keeps us from experiencing the life God intends for us. All of us have fallen short of His perfect standard through our disobedience. This sin creates a separation between us and God, and no amount of good works can bridge this gap.

The Problem: Sin leads to both physical and spiritual death (Romans 6:23).

3. Jesus Christ is God’s Only Provision for Our Sin

Romans 5:8 (NIV)
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God loves us so much that He provided a solution to our sin problem. Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, came to earth, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins. His death and resurrection made it possible for us to be reconciled with God.

The Solution: Jesus bridges the gap between humanity and God through His death and resurrection (1 Timothy 2:5).

4. We Must Personally Receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord

John 1:12 (NIV)
“Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”

It’s not enough to just know about Jesus or believe in His existence. We must personally receive Him into our lives by faith. This means turning away from our sin, asking Him to be our Lord and Savior, and trusting in His work on the cross. When we do this, we become children of God and are given the gift of eternal life.

Our Response: Repent of sin, place your trust in Jesus, and commit your life to following Him (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The Four Spiritual Laws provides a clear and concise way to share the Gospel. By explaining God’s love, humanity’s sin, Christ’s sacrifice, and the need for a personal response, this method helps lead people to a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Leading Others to the Baptism of the Holy Spirit

What is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?

Being filled with the Holy Spirit, often called the baptism of the Holy Spirit, empowers believers for a life of service, boldness, and spiritual gifts (Acts 1:8). The Holy Spirit gives us the power to witness, pray effectively, and live a life that reflects Christ.

How to Lead Someone to be Filled:

  1. Teach the Promise: Explain that the Holy Spirit is a promise for every believer (Acts 2:38-39). Share scriptures like Luke 11:13 to show that God desires to fill us with His Spirit.

  2. Pray in Faith: Lead them in a prayer asking to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Encourage them to surrender fully to God and expect to receive His power.

  3. Pray with Expectation: Lay hands on them if appropriate (Acts 19:6), and pray for them to receive the Holy Spirit, often accompanied by speaking in tongues (Acts 2:4, 1 Corinthians 14:2).
